The first thing we do for a Chino caller is establish whether we are talking about a county booking or the state prison, because the two have nothing to do with each other and only one of them has a bail figure. That check is free and it takes minutes. If it is CIM we say so plainly and you have lost nothing but a phone call. If it is a West Valley booking, we watch for it to appear on the county record — which can take a couple of hours after the arrest itself — then read you the bail and the premium in full. Paperwork is signed from wherever you are, and an agent carries the bond to Etiwanda Avenue. From there the jail's own clock takes over: usually one to six hours, and a busy Friday is not a quiet Tuesday.
What a bail bond will not reach
- Anyone held at the state prison
- A sentence already being served
- A hold placed by another agency
